Research and Evaluation

Even the bravest heroes fear the spreadsheet demons. Data Girl can help you vanquish them! She will work with your team to write research questions and conduct research that leads to actionable insights. She will find the information you need, and create the tools that make research and data accessible and understandable.

Past Projects

Our Community: Key Demographic Trends in Western Washington: For Girl Scouts of Western Washington, Alison researched demographic trends in each of the 17 counties in their catchment area, and created a report with a regional overview and profile for each county. She “took the show on the road” to present the findings and gather feedback from regional teams. The report is being used as the basis of an organization-wide community mapping effort.

State of WA Girl(s) Focus Groups: Alison worked with Ann Muno, Director of Advocacy at Girl Scouts of Western Washington, to conduct a series of ten focus groups with teenage girls across Western Washington. She recruited volunteer facilitators (girl/adult pairs), engaged community partners, developed the research protocol, and analyzed findings. The report from the study is forthcoming, and will be publicly available.

Strategic Learning: Alison led sub-committee of board members and staff that conducted research and analyzed needs for key stakeholders (volunteers, alumni, staff, and donors). She created and presented a report to the entire Strategic Learning committee, which used the report to set organizational priorities and write a winning proposition for Girl Scouts of Western Washington.
